Sewing Vogue 1452!

Review: Sewing Vogue 1452 Blouse

I recently added another favorite top to my wardrobe with the vibrant Vogue 1452 blouse! The fabric, sourced from Sew Much Fabric, is incredibly soft, making it a perfect match for my wide-leg “work” pants. This asymmetrical blouse features a left-side princess seam and a gathered right side panel with its own shoulder, while the left has a separate three-inch shoulder.

In my sewing adventure, I accidentally cut double for all pieces instead of single and ended up with an extra – always good to have a backup, right? As Roz, with Sew Much Fabric,  always advises, it’s wise to have multiple tops for one solid pant. I did understand the assignment.

Due to the cotton knit’s limited stretch recovery, I used elastic in the neckline seam edge instead of interfacing to prevent stretching and ensure the facing stays in shape, thereby avoiding gaping.

Fitting Details:

• Shortened the shoulder strap

• Raised the underarms

• Made the armhole smaller for a better fit

The pattern sizes use letters; I wear an “E,” but under the arm, I cut the outer size for extra coverage.

I do plan to make another of these tops. Next time, I’ll remember to cut single layers and take into account all the fitting changes I made. This blouse has become a staple in my wardrobe, and I love how versatile it is with my pants.

I’m excited to share that I’m standing in my new sewing studio, where you can come for tailoring, alteration services, and of course pattern fitting. If you’re looking to update your wardrobe or need a special piece tailored to perfection, I’m here to help, both IRL and Online.

Stay tuned for more sewing adventures and reviews!
