A Perfect Pink & Pearls Jacket

Made a pink vintage linen jacket with Vogue 1045, perfectly paired with my Leah Cami dress.

This project came together quickly because I needed something special to wear for the "Pearls and Pink" function, a fantastic yearly Prayer Breakfast celebrating its 10th anniversary. I was invited by a fellow survivor, my friend Nicole, just the night before the event. It was an honor to be amongst so many fighters and survivors, and I wanted to feel my best.

Despite the last-minute nature of the project, I managed to complete the jacket in just three hours. The neckline fits wonderfully, and the fabric held up beautifully to my pearls and brooch. Wearing this outfit made me feel polished and put together for the event, allowing me to fully enjoy the inspiring atmosphere. Here's a flyer from the event featuring me and Nicole, a testament to the strong and supportive community we are part of.

**The Fabric**

The fabric for this project is a high-quality vintage linen from So Much Fabric. Two years ago, I used it to make my Leah Cami dress—a pattern I designed myself and offer for free to my patrons. Despite the time gap, the linen matched perfectly with the dress, demonstrating its durability and consistent quality. The Leah Cami dress, by the way, is fully lined and has been a staple in my wardrobe.

**The Pattern and Adjustments**

The Vogue 1045 pattern by Sandra Betzina is a gem. It features a severe curved hem, which I decided to shorten by three inches. The pattern also includes intricate tucks with top stitching, adding a refined touch to the jacket. You can see the detailed tucks in the close-up photo, which highlights the craftsmanship and the fabric's excellent performance.

Although the pattern is listed as a blouse, I made it as a jacket to wear over my Leah Cami dress. I kept the jacket unlined and topstitched the facing down instead of adding buttons. This choice gave the jacket a chic, open-front look that pairs beautifully with my Leah Kami dress, providing just the right coverage since the dress is now too big after my weight loss.

**Final Thoughts**

I'm really pleased with how this jacket turned out. It complements my existing wardrobe perfectly and adds a touch of elegance to any outfit. The combination of the Vogue 1045 pattern and the vintage linen from So Much Fabric proved to be a winning one.

Despite the quick turnaround, I’m thrilled with the result and how it seamlessly fits into my wardrobe.

I hope this project inspires you to explore how one extra project and expand your wardrobe with new patterns and leftover fabrics.

Until next time,

Andrea
